Minotaur—Birth, 50cm x 50cm.
The Minotaur series is a visual tale of a being who is too different to fit within the borders of the human world.
For me, as a queer person, his story resonates with me: traditionally reduced to a monster, even though he had done nothing wrong, he was just born “different”—into a world that had no place for an identity outside the norm. He was misunderstood and hated, imprisoned, punished for his pure existence. Ultimately, his only release was death.
My series rewrites this myth from his perspective—not as the story of a monster, but as a being who is less-than-human and yet painfully human.
The first painting is a soft glimpse of creation—the merging of two worlds. The dark, powerful bull, the father, who in myths is usually white, divine, and pure, is here deliberately depicted in dark colors as a rejection of the traditional view. On the opposite side is Pasiphae—the loving wife and mother who was wrongly blamed for giving birth to the monster, though she herself was merely the victim of divine vengeance. In the midst of this tension and merging, a small, strange creature appears—a small miracle and a mistake: the Minotaur, not yet formed, not yet understood.
Printed on high-quality paper with a 3cm white border. The postcard version comes without border.
