Minotaur—Imprisonment (3/4), 2025

Minotaur—Imprisonment (3/4), 2025

Minotaur—Imprisonment, 50cm x 50cm.

The Minotaur series is a visual tale of a being who is too different to fit within the borders of the human world.
For me, as a queer person, his story resonates with me: traditionally reduced to a monster, even though he had done nothing wrong, he was just born “different”—into a world that had no place for an identity outside the norm. He was misunderstood and hated, imprisoned, punished for his pure existence. Ultimately, his only release was death.
My series rewrites this myth from his perspective—not as the story of a monster, but as a being who is less-than-human and yet painfully human.

The third painting depicts the endless labyrinth in which the Minotaur is imprisoned. He was imprisoned there because he was different—a visual metaphor for the way normativity builds walls around those who deviate. His imprisonment is a tragedy that arose not from his actions but from the fear of those around him. And even if he escaped back into “their world,” his walls would be their prejudices, their fears, their pathologizing of otherness—and nothing would change.
